Alan Dobson

Co-Founder

At Ear Care Dorset, I specialise in safe, effective earwax removal, offering both microsuction and irrigation treatments to the highest clinical standards. My priority is to provide a comfortable, professional experience, ensuring each client feels at ease while receiving expert ear care tailored to their individual needs.

I am fully qualified in earwax removal and committed to maintaining excellent standards of hygiene, safety, and ongoing professional development. I am also trained in auricular acupuncture (NADA protocol), allowing me to support a more holistic approach to ear health and overall wellbeing.

Alongside my clinical practice, I bring nearly 20 years of experience in health and social care, having worked across CQC-registered services and charitable organisations. I hold a Level 5 qualification in Health and Social Care Management (Adults and Children) and a Level 4 qualification in Safeguarding, and I am enhanced DBS checked. This background underpins my strong commitment to providing compassionate, person-centred care—particularly for those who may be vulnerable.

My approach combines professionalism with empathy, ensuring every individual feels respected, reassured, and well cared for from start to finish.

Outside of work, I enjoy family life, staying active, and pursuing my interest in photography and drone operation—hobbies that reflect my attention to detail and precision in everything I do.

At Ear Care Dorset, I bring over 20 years’ experience in clinical and care settings, including work within CQC-registered health and social care organisations. I hold specialist training in earwax removal, enhanced DBS certification, safeguarding training, and first aid qualifications.

My background includes 25 years supporting vulnerable people, alongside training in auricular acupuncture using the NADA protocol. I also served in the military, where prolonged exposure to weapon systems and live firing contributed to my own hearing loss, giving me a personal understanding of the importance of ear health.

Having experienced the benefits of earwax removal first-hand and now using a hearing aid myself, I appreciate how much good hearing can affect quality of life. As a husband, father of two, and active member of the local community, I am passionate about providing professional, compassionate care that helps people hear and feel their best.

Our Story

Ear Care Dorset began with a friendship that grew both personally and professionally over many years.

Our families’ story started in Poole, when our wives first met at the maternity hospital—an unexpected connection that quickly turned into a lasting friendship. Not long after, we met and built a friendship of our own, one that has continued to grow alongside our families. Our children have grown up together, and we’ve shared holidays, milestones, and a strong sense of community ever since.

Professionally, our paths also came together. After working in different organisations, we began working alongside each other in 2011 within health and social care. Over the years, we’ve delivered community education, workshops, and training across the BCP area, including smoking cessation, risk management, and adverse childhood experiences. We have trained together in areas such as auricular acupuncture (NADA protocol) and safeguarding, and both progressed into leadership roles, managing teams and supporting services within clinical and community settings.

Throughout our careers, we’ve remained committed to supporting people and strengthening the communities we serve, including involvement in charitable work and wider community initiatives.

Ear Care Dorset is a natural extension of that shared journey—bringing together our experience, values, and passion for helping people. It reflects not just our professional backgrounds, but the trust, friendship, and community spirit that has developed over many years.
